In this section we will explain the different probabilities of beating the slots. Slots is a game of luck and there is no system or strategy to use when playing it. However, your chances of winning may be greater if you are lucky but also if you find a machine with the highest payouts. It is very difficult and complicated to explain the chances of winning while playing slot machines. There are many machines and games, that is why also the odds may be very different. As we wrote above, to know your chances you should look for a payback percentage.  The closer they are to 100%, the better. Some machines pay back at percentages even bigger than 100%, so if you are lucky to find such a machine, you may be very happy. Such machines may be called “loose slots” and often you may find them among many other machines. They are at casinos to show that people are actually winning. Also, some time ago,  casino operators placed the highest paying slot machines in areas where there were many people like entrances, bars, buffets or shows. It is simple, if a player wins at such a machine, other people will see it and feel so excited that they will also start playing at near machines which have smaller payouts.

Of course, if you are an online player, it doesn’t matter where the machines are placed, but it’s good to know how slots are operated. Unfortunately, knowing this, you won’t understand better the probabilities of the slot machines. The first slot machines were mechanical and it was easy to get to know the odds by multiplying the number of symbols by the number of reels. For example, the first slot machine had three reels and ten symbols on each reel. So, the probability of having three the same symbols was 10 X 10 X 10, or 1000 to 1. Nowadays, the traditional machines are operated by computers and it is impossible to get to know the odds exactly, so we look only at the payout percentages. The average house edge is about 9%. This means that for every dollar you play, you should get 91 cents. Of course, people would not play slots if every time they put a dollar in, they would got 91 cents back. But slot machines are programmed to pay out huge sums of money from time to time, and this unpredictability is what makes slots so attractive. If you want to know more about slots techniques and tips, go to our Slots Strategy web page.

It didn’t take long for regular slots players to get to know this simple strategy, so casino operators changed things up a little. They do the opposite things – they put the low-paying machines in areas with many people and high-paying machines at the back of the casinos. Nowadays, there is no rule as to where the slots machines are placed, but it is true that some machines pay out high but most pay out low. However, think about some of the most important rules because they are always true, no matter where you play.
