Blackjack Psychology

Blackjack is a game where skill plays a great role. There are not many things that can help you to win constantly in any game. However, there are strategies that may help you to improve your chances while playing Blackjack. But the knowledge is not enough! The psychological aspect is another vital factor to maintaining good results. How you behave in certain situations is often overlooked even by the most experienced player. In gambling, the emotional aspect is just as important as your level of preparation and degree of knowledge. Now, here are some scenarios that are possible when playing Blackjack, those situations require great mental discipline to stay focused and continue the good playing. Think about those situations and ask yourself  what would you do each time. Control your emotions to eliminate destructive actions.

Playing with a novice player.
It is common to see a skilled player completely losing his temper when playing alongside a novice player. It is usually because of bad luck when the more experienced player is losing. Perhaps it's the human need to find fault in others when we hit a bad beat, but there really is no excuse for this. If you decide to gamble be aware that bad luck is part of gambling. It is completely immature to blame novice players for your bad luck.

Playing with fear.
Don’t ever gamble if you need to win due to some circumstances in your personal life. You need to keep your mind clear and be relaxed, otherwise you won’t be able to make right decisions while playing Blackjack. Clear mind is necessary to achieve good results, thinking about something that is beyond your control stop the game and leave the casino. Another common fear is that of going bust. Even when players know the correct decision determined by basic strategy, they will convince themselves to stand on a hand which they know is weak. Here you need to trust your system and your fears will be alleviated.

Overconfidence.
Overconfidence can be noticed with experienced players. One thinks that he knows the game so well that he simply can’t lose. It is true that a good strategy will improve your winning chances, but be aware that nothing can’t win with bad luck. Sooner or later such situation will happen to every player, and there is nothing one can do to prevent this situation. The best thing to do is to wait out. It is common to see players who act like super heroes and make wrong decisions, and that ultimately leads to costly mistakes.

How to control anger and frustration?
First of all play with your head, and don’t fall victim to gambling superstitions. Remember that if just lost a hand you are just as likely to lose the next one as you are to win. There is a belief that each hand has some bearing on the previous or subsequent one (Gambler’s Fallacy). Many players double their wager after a loss. Don’t ever think that the chances are better now. To be a good player you need knowledge, skill and the ability to control your emotions.
